| What is the Soling Program? The Soling Program was founded in 1984 to foster creative and independent work across academic boundaries. We focus on interdisciplinary and collaborative work based on problem-solving, experiential learning, originality, and creativity. Students involved in the program work as multidisciplinary teams to explore potential solutions to unique and relevant real-world problems. This coming semester (Spring 2005), we are offering three new courses. For honors students, experience in the Soling program could work toward fulfilling your basic requirement of a strong collaborative experience!
Puppets and Community - Join the internationally renowned Open Hand Puppet Theater and a local school in creating more than life sized puppets for a pageant celebrating diversity. These puppets were recently seen at Chancellor Cantor's inaugural service in the Carrier Dome with SU student performers. Wednesdays from 1 to 4 PM. Open to all students interested in puppets, community activism and problem solving.
Web Design for Novices - Want to learn to design a web page? All the essentials are taught in this class. Design a page to meet a client's needs. The class meets Tuesdays 6 to 9 PM. Forensic Science in Action - a course to involve SU students in designing and overseeing all aspects of a forensic science event on campus that would bring groups of high school seniors that are currently studying forensics to campus to participate in a forensic science challenge. Interested in forensic science, creative writing, management or criminal justice? This is the course for you. Meeting time TBA.
